Rear-ended at a red light
July 9th, 2008 , 7:40 am by Michelle Halsne
Was heading home from a busy work day and was stopped at a red light and a driver came down the street at 40 miles per hour and did not see me or the light. Getting hit is a scary thing. My car is not drivable and my body is not runnable. My 50 mile race is just a couple weeks away and I was hoping to run a half marathon this weekend. We’ll have to wait and see, for now I get to play with the insurance companies fun fun!

I’m finally back to running after my 3rd time getting rear-ended so I feel your pain…literally. I was in treatment and physical therapy for back and shoulder injuries for 6 months and I’m still seeing my chiropractor on a bi-weekly basis. (And while I was going through the PT, I got hit a 4th time!! I should start taking the bus…) I pray that your injuries heal fast and you can get back out there soon! Good luck!

Oh Michelle! That really sucks! Glad to hear you made it through! Cars can be replaced, people can’t. I’m very sorry to hear it! Best wishes!

Argh! That sucks! I’m glad to hear your injuries weren’t too serious, but what a pain! (both literally and figuratively)
I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Michelle, Sorry to hear about this…
I had this happen to me once… I had stopped at an intersection in the neighborhood to let a pedestrian cross… I was stopped for a good 2-3 seconds with no one behind me, and then some teenager in their parents car slammed into the back of my car going about 30mph… Note: this is a 20mph zone… but no one ever drives that slow.
Thank god the Pedestrian noticed the car coming because the impact pushed my car into the path that the pedestrian would have been walking in.
Anyway… I hope you are not too banged up… make sure you get plenty of rest.

[...] Apparently being rear-ended and suffering some form of whiplash right before a big fitness event is the new cool thing to do… Once I heard that Michelle had done it, Phil and I raced out and got rear-ended ourselves! Yep, we were on our way to a business meeting, Phil was driving, we were on the freeway in rush hour traffic, minding our own business driving nice and safe, when all of a sudden out of no where… WHAM! we were hit from behind. The good news is, there was only minor damage to Phil’s car, although the woman who ran into us really banged up the front of her car (crumpled hood and all)… She’s on her “parents insurance” and was really hoping she could cover the cost without getting the insurance companies involved. Oh yeah… right. [...]

Oh, Michelle, I am so sorry. Make sure you get checked up for any potential soft tissue injury. Don’t run before you know for certain you are ok. Argh! People who doesn’t pay attention on the road, let me know, he/she was on the phone?
Get some rest and feel better soon.

Sorry to hear about the accident. Phil and Brad were rear ended on Friday. They are both feeling stiff. It sounds like you should get checked out. You are probably out of alignment. I agree with Andrea, a massage would be good.
