Everyone should have a group

Met another Down Sound Racing member for a run this morning. Lucky for me he was a WS100 veteran. Matt relived his WS experience on the run with me as I gasp for air. As he mentioned the throwing up, weight loss, ice cold river crossing etc… my reaction was “how awesome you did it and finished.” I have not looked up his official time but my guess is he was under 22 hours even with a 45 minute nap and a near medical “pull” from the course.
I was much slower today and Matt was gracious as runners are to each other and stayed with me. It was pouring rain and my legs were trashed so I was so thankful that Matt carried the conversation and the pace. To be honest I probably would not have even run today without his prompting email yesterday.
This is why everyone no matter the ability should have a running network, people to pull your bones out bed, keep you honest, do road therapy with, learn from and if your lucky have an opportunity to be there for someone else when they need you in running or in life.

That’s a spot-on observation. I’ve been running with my friend Shana for 8 months or so now, and just having that appointment in the diary, that person not to let down has meant my running’s been more regular than at any other time in my life - and even though it’s always an easy run with Shana, the regularity has helped me maintain a good base level of running fitness to build speed & endurance onto.

Michelle, thanks for the post on my blog… would your ulta marathon body be willing to plod through 12 miles at 9min or slower pace with me this weekend?

So true…
Running is important part of our life journey. Having a group of like-minded people to motivate and encourage you when you question yourself at times so you can put away your doubts and keep going is a blessing.
Thanks for posting on my blog, and you having to use the word “impressive”; I am blushing.
Thank you.
Believe it or not, I sent an email to the Pasadena marathon asking if I could upgrade my registration from 1/2 to full marathon. I feel that this point, I will be ready by November to run the full marathon. Funny you should mention that. Have a happy and safe 4th.
