Accelarator

When you look good, you feel good and you run better.  This is not a scientific fact but it sure is true for me. In trying to keep motivated and reward myself for milestones I decided that every 300 miles I would buy myself something new for running.  Last time I bought 2 new pair of shoes.  After coming home from
Oregon 8 hours in the car, and watching my track alma mater KU squeak by Davidson into the final four.  I went for my run. I was strutting same fancy new clothes to day on my workout.  I bought new Pearl Izumi gear this weekend.  I bought the infinity tight, Schnell top, Accelerator Softshell jacket and the silk lite socks.

Not only did the clothes feel amazing but they made me feel faster, stronger, younger, & more fit  can new clothes really do that?  Pearl Izumi is really clothing for cyclist but I was amazed at the support my legs received from the tights.  I had recently ran in a pair of tights that I bought 9 years ago from Road Runners club, yes they held up for nine years!  Wow what a difference in technology and fit.  I can’t wait to run another 300 miles so I can go get more Pearl Izumi gear.

My work out today was 7 miles followed by drills on the track: Lunges, high knees, bottom kicks, striders and accelerators.

Workout:

  • Type: Run
  • Date: 03/30/2008
  • Time: 16:30:00
  • Total Time: 1:00:00.00
  • Distance: 7 miles
  • Average Pace: 8:34.29/mile

oh, its definitely true… anything that motivates you to exercise is money well spent. lots cheaper than saving up for bypass surgery & way more fun. I like your plan.

thanks for motivating me to run today with your workout plan. I really need to get out on the track for some workouts. I’ll at least run to the gym today.

Hey Michelle - would love to run with you sometime soon! Although I think your pace is a bit faster than mine, it’d be good for me to have someone pushing me. Here’s my only problem - I’ve been having foot issues (peroneal tendon) off and on for a few months now and thought it was almost healed. On a simple 7-mile run on Sat I ended up limping home the last 2 miles in PAIN! So I’m going to see a podiatrist hopefully this week and get it figured out. I’ll let you know when I’m back up and running again though!

Oh, and btw - I LOVE running in cycling clothing! Some of my favorites plus they’re perfect for a ride too…can’t go wrong!

I sooooo can relate to getting new gear/clothes for motivation.
The weather in California is getting warmer, I’ve been running in my winter clothing for months now. It’s getting a little too warm for running now.

I stopped by Nike a couple of weeks ago and bought three running shorts, three sleeveless running tops and two running bras. All new spring collections, with gourgous new colors and new light dri-fit material. Oh my God, I was so jazzed about going on a run with my new clothes. I love it!

Where ever we can find motivation, it’s money well spend. We work hard, so we got to play hard and spend hard. hehehe :)

i love my pearl izumi tights. i also am a believer in compression clothing for muscle support especially when i row. i tend to wear multiple tight layers. compression is the concept behind under armour’s line of gear.

so glad you’re up for 22 this weekend! sunday is better for me but i can be flexible.
