Hosting a party tonight for about 20 neighbors, had a great day watching Chris master 5 beautiful appetizers. Not at all sore from the treadmill workout.. Good news. I will hit the trails in the morning, maybe Cougar Mountain. I will see what 2 hours feels like.
With my commitment to prepare the right way for WS100 i went to the gym tonight. My goal was to put about 6 miles on the books. But after a half mile warm up, I started to “find my rhythm”, when I got to 5 .5 miles, I knew I was running strong. As a nice surprise I do not have any soreness from the Half Marathon. So…. I turned up the IPOD and cranked the treadmill (or visa versa). I ran another mile and half at about 7:12 pace and it felt pretty awesome. Add on half mile cool down and there’s my Friday night workout. Pretty smart use of the end of a very busy week since flying home Sunday night, flying to Spokane Tuesday night and too many emails and phone calls in between.

Flew to Spokane last for a couple of days of work. The body is 90 % recovered from the weekends half marathon. Calves are the only thing still reminding me that I ran hard.
I am staying Whitworth college which is a nice small school tucked into rolling hills north of town. For the mental challenge of running hills when a bit fatigued I decided to go out and find a long incline to tackle. The chosen hill was .7 miles and a solid incline. I ran a even pace out and back which is always a good sign for me that I am recovered. The morning frost was lovely.
Very cool note. On the WS 100 website www.ws100.com there is a google earth map that takes you through the course, humbling and amazing, I can’t wait!

I am an official entrant in the Western States 100. I got my information packet today, and it is a booklet of shocking information. It may take me the next seven months to take in all the information, most warnings about what can go very wrong at the race.
I am completely excited
First meeting with Sweat365 team was awesome. Thanks Sweat365! for this forum, dinner, training advice and support.
Ran really hard, wanted to go out fast and see if i could hold onto a good time. Ran the first 6 miles feeling great, the next 4 feeling pretty decent, the next one coming to terms with the truth, I was running out of gas, the next 2 miles was talking myself into not blowing a good race. I walked through the aid stations, something I usually avoid. Overall, I am very pleased with my results as my training has been lame. I feel really focused now and running hard during this race was an important part of me moving forward to the Western States 100.
