How I trained for the 50

Given my age (almost 39) and my lifestyle (busy family and running my one woman company) I don’t believe in “junk” miles. When I put on my running shoes I go out with intention, even if only for a 30 minute run. I believe in “muscle confusion”, meaning I sometimes go to the track and do repeats, the next run up a local trail, then maybe tempo or longer distance. This approach engages all the different muscles throughout the week, so on the mountain at mile 37 there something left. To be honest I think running for 50 miles or for 10 hours is mostly mental….have to be a little crazy.
3 days post race….ankles and feet remarkably swollen, but not painful, must have been the salt tablets. Legs feel tired but not sore. Will rest tomorrow and run Thursday.
