Mental and physical fitness can be measured by these 2 yards sticks. Balance in life and flexibility of the mind and spirit are ultimate signs of strength for me.
This is also true for our bodies. As I rehab my leg on my “balance ball” I realize how important true balance is. I think it represents so much beyond running. I have to be tuned into my body and the world to anticipate the slightest movements and forces that may take me off balance.
Since I have not run in 3 weeks it is surprising to me how the time i dedicated to that area has been eaten up my the “daily grind”. When In the past when I have been sidelined it was obvious to those who share my life. I was cranky, sad, and irritable. This time I have approached my time out as an opportunity to fill those workout hours with positive things. It has worked and although I cannot wait to get back into running shape, I have enjoyed the extra time to cook healthier meals, play monopoly with Olivia (13 year old daughter), and exchange music with Beth (17 year old daughter).
I am not the most balanced and certainly not the most flexible person in the world, but today I am a little more of each.
So happy to have Sweat365 come along to help in my calf muscle tear recovery and return to running. It’s been 3 weeks since ripping a hole in my left calf while playing “old Lady” soccer!!
My first day back to the streets will be tomorrow, can’t wait to see my progress on graphs and charts.
