We beat the rain! We only had sprinkles for the last 1.5 miles. Big confidence booster for the marathon. It has been many years since I have run a marathon - going at the faster pace is scary. I know I can put one foot in front of the other for 8 or more hours, but that’s different than aiming for a decent marathon pace. You wouldn’t think that 30 seconds per mile made a big difference - it makes a HUGE difference. It will hard to guess my marathon time.
I still am not sure what my race goal is for Surf City, as I was already doing the marathon shuffle as we topped the last hill at 19.5 miles. I am blessed with a patient and fit friend that let me tag along with her today - thanks Andrea.
